Bright Lights

2011 was the year of bright colors, by far my favorite trend of the year  ...

It was so enlightening to see all the biggest design houses hitting all of the  runways with vibrant reds, tangerines, forest greens and cobalt blues...

This was the perfect trend that transcended all year long going from spring to fall without any fashion mishaps along the way.

It was all about the vibrant hued trouser, sheer blouses, structured coat and draped dresses...

There was a flourish of color no matter what the style of the ensemble was, and this is sure to be a trend that will pop in the new year as well.

Evil Eye

The evil eye has been around for centuries and is very much popular amongst  many cultures around the world...

It is also been a hot item amongst celebs, everyone is rockin the evil eye around their neck like Naomi Campell or as a bracelet.

The evil eye charms first originated from Greece in the 6th Century of the B.C era. The evil eye charms are used to ward off the evil gaze.

Vanessa Kandiyoti has an amazing collection when it comes to evil eye bracelets and necklaces.

I also am obsessed with the Arman Locket which is the last image, for a girl who loves gold its the perfect evil eye...

Mad for Plaid

Plaid isn't just for school girls anymore...

I love wearing my Ralph Lauren plaid button down with a pair of super skinny AllSaints denim...

Vivienne Westwood and Alexander McQueen are two designers that I love even more when it comes to plaid. Their designs are edgy and not the usual design you would expect when comes to the print.

Plaid can be worn as a double breasted peacoat, button down or corseted knee length dress. Your options are never ending, it's just important to not wear anything else that is over powering.

Also remember to wear the print proportionate to your silhouette...

Sketch Girl

Hollywood Costume designer Edith Head was known for dressing some of old Hollywood's leading ladies, from Marilyn Monroe, Audrey Hepburn, Sophia Loren to Grace Kelly...

Head started her career in the early 20's as a sketch artist for Paramount studios costume department. Not long after Head became head of the costume department and stayed for 44 years.

Her designs were always classic and timeless.

Head was awarded 8 academy awards throughout her long spanning career and had over 30 nominations.

Her iconic designs in "To Catch A Thief" with Grace Kelly are my favorite. The entire film Kelly is dressed perfectly not a line out of place...

The gloves, cat eye sunglasses and of course the draped silk chiffon gowns  worn by Kelly were perfection...

Mini Statement

Make a statement this new years eve with a sexy mini dress...

The best look when comes to sporting a mini dress this NYE is to go sequin or lace.

Balmain and Emilio Pucci have pieces any girl would die for. I love a dress that has broad exaggerated shoulders and quarter inch sleeve, like the first and third look by Balmain.

Also stay away from extremely bright colors when it comes to sequins or lace, stick to a color palette that can transcend seasons.

I love a Forrest green or metallic gold, these are hues that are edgy and you will be able to rock out many seasons to come...

Abstract Elegant

American artist Robert Rauschenberg was an artist that definitely thought out of the box when it came to art...

His abstract expressionism technique combined with modern pop art, is not the type of art you would expect but surely one we can appreciate.

Rauschenberg loved combining art objects with everyday objects in his work, which is why he is so famous for always stating that his paintings relate "in the gap between art and life".

Solstice,1968

Storyline I, 1968

Night Sights Series, 1992

Coca Cola Plan, 1958

Rauschenberg was more than just a painter, he was a photographer, sculptor, designer and even a composer at one time. His work speaks volumes because he wasn't a one dimensional artist.

Rauschenberg incorporated everything that pertained to art.

"I think a painting is more like the real world if it's made out the real world" Rauschenberg

Rebel

James Dean was and still is a American cultural icon...

"Rebel Without A Cause" is by far one of my favorite films. Dean only starred in three films, yet his presence onscreen is legendary.

I can't say how often I see men emulating his hairstyle and look ...

But let's be honest no one comes close to Dean.

The key piece to be taken away from Dean's look is confidence and sticking to simple classic pieces such as motorcycle leather jacket. No matter what Dean is wearing, he carries the look off effortlessly.

TOPKNOT

The topknot is by far the easiest hair trend that is easy to do and looks so chic...

Everyone is rocking the topknot hairstyle and it looks great on everyone.

I like to add a little twist to my topknot by adding a braid on both sides or just one on the back and combining it to my knot...

If you want a hair style that is fuss free and still looks flawless, try the topknot it looks fab!

Black and White

Bring out your tuxedo ladies...This season it's all about the tux!!!

A mid length tuxedo jacket with satin trim around the collar is great, or even a floor length tuxedo gown...

Stella McCartney and CHANEL have some amazing separates and dresses  that can be mixed in with your wardrobe creating the perfect tuxedo look.

Rachel Zoe's new line has created a mini tuxedo dress that comes in off white and black and has become a fan fav amongst such  celebs as  Julianne Hough and Jennifer Lopez.

So dress up and bring out your tux!

Rouge

Back in the day many stage actresses were known to only wear red lipstick because it stood out in black and white pictures.

But now women love  wearing a rouge lip color because it adds a whole new level of glam.

A red lip color can be done right as long as it's the right shade...

If your more olive in skin tone, like myself stick to a fire engine red.

Dark skin tones look amazing in deep reds and if your a bit fairer stick to a red that is a cherry red tone.

So rock out with a rouge lip this holiday season...

Blonde Ambition

The German statuesque beauty was discovered at the age of seventeen., gracing more than 500 magazine covers.

Claudia Schiffer's resemblance to Brigitte Bardot is uncanning and her poses dominate each frame.

Schiffer started her career on the cover of french ELLE and  created a global empire with her famous GUESS jeans campaign.

Claudia is currently the face of  Chanel's Fall 2011 Eye wear campaign.

One of the few supermodels of the early 90's supermodel era that is still working and competing with the best of them today...

The Chameleon

Michael Fassbender is a force to be reckon with when it comes to his on screen talent.

Fassbender always steps out in style, sticking to well fitted suits on the red carpet.

Off the red carpet Fassbender looks casual and cool, sticking to basic pieces  such as neutral colored tees and straight leg dark washed denim..

Talent is style and Fassbender has hit the mark every time when it comes to both talent and style.

Fassbender has delivered one electrifying performance after another. His bond esque performance in "X-Men First Class" has  put him in contention to replace Daniel Craig as the next James Bond.

Bilbao

Considered to be one of the most monumental structures in the world, the Guggenheim museum in Bilbao is jaw dropping.

Frank Gehry is the architect behind the masterpiece and his vision is breathtaking.

The design of the building is done effortlessly, with arches coming out of all angels  throughout the structure highlighting just the right amount of light.

The panels are reminiscent of fish scales, which gives it a unique touch and it is located alongside the Nervion River.

If your ever along the Basque countryside in Spain , Bilbao should be a definite stop.

It is one of the most visually stimulating buildings I have ever seen and it is a must see for everyone.

Fur Era

Fur can surely revamp any ensemble you have on, from your evening cocktail dress to a casual day out.

Switch it up with a  fur hat, coat, cape or even a vest, to give it a more bohemian vibe.

If your worried about looking to boxy when wearing your fur vest, just accent it with a skinny belt.

I always stick to my vintage fur ushanka hat when I feel I need add a lil fur trimming to my ensemble and it's the perfect touch...

But don't overload by dressing in fur hit to toe, you want to keep it minimal.
