Rock The Casbah

Ive always been inspired to express myself through  fashion implementing pieces from my culture into my styling...

My first experience exposed to fashion was in Afghanistan, where I was born. The vibrant colors, the fabrics and textures were all reminiscent of the landscape.

Tom Ford calls the President of Afghanistan Hamid Karzai "the most chic man in the world", his appeal to the West is understandable...

Impeccable in his dress, speech and manner, Karzai's elegance is universally admired. and his traditional karakul is fast becoming the latest thing in head wear.

The karakul was all the rage at the Rochas Autumn / Winter 2011 runway collection...

Starck by Design

French designer and architect Philippe Starck has taken the world of modern design by storm...

Creating eccentric pieces whose main aesthetic is to be useful before even being considered beautiful...

Starck's multifaceted designs can be seen in hotels and homes all over the world...

The Palazzina Grassi in Venice Italy is my favorite place to stay...

It was the home of an aristocrat, but now with Starck's unconventional designs it's an immaculate 5 star hotel... Truly magnificent...

By incorporating the unique and unusual with practical materials, we enter a world of fantasy created by the genius mind of  Philippe Starck...

Sexy Sailor

Hey sailor !!! Bring back the nautical trend...

Whip out your navy blues, anchors, sailor hats and tailored cuts...

Coco Chanel first introduced the "la mariniere" t-shirt  in 1917... Since then every big designer has restructured the look on all the runways...

The nautical trend is classic with a timeless feel... Using functional pieces that will always be classic no matter what fashion era...

The key pattern to this trend is to emphasize on stripes, black, navy, white and red color combination

Flare up your look with a pair of cat eye sunglasses or aviators and a vintage bag...

This trend can either be feminine or masculine depending on your personal style...

But if your deciding to go masculine, remember to complete the look with a pair 6 inch derbies, that way your still keeping it sexy...

Graceful Elegance

The woman that has been the greatest inspiration in my career and many others, is the iconic stylist and creative director of Vogue... GRACE CODDINGTON....

Grace's editorial layouts are known to be at times up to 20 pages long and quiet extravagant...

Her vision has always been consistent from the beginning....

Grace has a talent for picking out trends before they even become a hot item, making it a trademark to her success...

There is a sense of modern romanticism to her photographic editorials creating dream scape narratives...

"I like fairy tales, and I like dreaming. I try to weave the reality into the dream"...Grace Coddington

Bullfighters and Ballerinas

Grab the bull by the horns ballerinas and find your inner matador...

Spain has gotten me into a matador frenzy, I am loving all the intricate embroideries and silk blouses...I am seriously in love with the Matador look !!!

I've been inspired by Conchita Cintron, one of the world's most famous bullfighter also known as "The Blond Goddess"

She became popular with crowds because of her grace, style and bravado she showed in the ring...

The matador costume is quiet elaborate and as the Spanish would say "Traje de luces" which means  suit of lights...

Being a girl who loves intricate details and exaggerated shoulders on a jacket this is one look I will surely be rockin all over town....

The Argentine

The wait is over, polo season is right around the corner !!!

I can feel the sun on my skin and smell the scent of fresh pine and wet earth...Gazing at the field and feeling the power of the majestic horses as they race pass you...

When it comes to Polo, who is the one man we all think of ?!  Black Watch's captain and the face of Ralph Lauren's Polo campaign NACHO FIGUERAS !!!

Here  are some elements to making your wardrobe elegant and chic on the field...

A pair of Paul Fredrick loafers or leather preferably, white or cream khakis with a clean front  (no pleats)  and a well fitted blazer. But remember keep your color palette light. Feel free to play with color especially with pastels (green, blue, violet).

Also add a bit of your own flare to make the look your own... Add a fedora or a colorful pocket scarf !

By adding these elements to your wardrobe you will also be able to carry them out to the following seasons as well...

So remember keep your style refined and classic on the field...

Be Bold With Color

It's all about making your closet look like all the colors of the rainbow...

What am I talking about ??? Color blocking your ensemble beauties...

Be bold this summer with hot pinks, tangerines, cobalt blues and jungle greens...

There is no rule of thumb to this fashion craze.... It's all about attitude and showing off your CURVES!!!

This trend has been around for a while now and its made a huge come back.

All the biggest fashion houses have featured this trend. From Louis Vuitton, Gianfranco Ferre to Gucci with those fab ads we all love.

Color blocking is also quite figure flattering, stick to vertical colour blocks to give you length and darker shades to areas that you would like to minimize. Mix and match your favorite vibrant hues to give you that perfect runway look.

This trend is actually quite simple, but it will surely grab everyone 's attention.

So remember this week...Color block, color block, color block !!!

The bolder the better fashionistas!!!
